About Me

I’m in my late 30’s, married and have two children.  I’m interested in amateur radio, electronics, programming and computing in general.  I’m a Java programmer and I’ve also got multiple Cisco and RedHat certifications.

Amateur Radio

I passed my Foundation License in June 2012 and used the call sign of M6CLL.  In November 2012 I passed the Intermediate License and now use the call sign of 2E0MLL.  I hope to pass the Advance License before the end of the summer 2013.  I have a number of radio’s.  I own a Yaesu FT-60E, Yaesu FT-817ND and Yaesu FT-897D and can be found most evenings on GB3FC between 7PM and 11PM.  I’m mostly interested in digital communications but also quite like CW and have built a couple of QRP transceiver for CW.  When I’ve learned more about the hobby I intend to look into hintenet technologies, such as boosting the power of WiFi access points and using them under my amateur license terms and conditions.

I’m interested in electronics and work with the Arduino and Raspberry Pi as controllers.  My current electronics project is building a Rock-Mite CW transceiver for QRP on 20M and a multi-band dipole ofr my loft.

Computing and Software Development

I can do pretty much anything with a Linux server and I program in Java, C/C++ and PL\SQL.  I’m not currently working on a development project, but I constantly think of new projects I could start 🙂

In April 2013 I founded an  IT services, technology and solutions provider called Ascentico Limited which became a personal services company used for contracting.  I mainly contract in the FinTech industry working on the mid to back end of web based products.
